The “Your Chair Project” was born out of a desire to “share the joy of welcoming a newborn child with the people of the community,” in which residents send chairs made from timber produced in Hokkaido to children who are to be born. The project was designed in 2020, the 15th year since its inception. The design of the chair is based on the image of a child standing on his or her own two feet, with the seat and legs interlocked by hinges, in the hope that the child will be able to walk on his or her own path.
