“Shizubi Research+ Shiro Kuramata and Shizuoka” – Publication Release

“Shizubi Research+ Shiro Kuramata and Shizuoka” – Publication Release

The discussion “How Bar COMBLÉ Came to Be”, featuring Hisae Igarashi, is included in the publication.
This publication introduces the commercial spaces designed by Shiro Kuramata (1934–1991), one of postwar Japan’s most renowned designers, in Shizuoka. These spaces are presented through archival photographs and documents.
It features an in-depth essay by Kuramata scholar Keiko Hashimoto, an essay by Shizuoka City Museum of Art curator Ayu Ito, newly commissioned photographs of the still-existing Bar COMBLÉ by photographer Mitsumasa Fujitsuka—who worked alongside Kuramata during his career—as well as newly discovered materials.
This book serves as a definitive record of Kuramata’s legacy in Shizuoka.
