OVERVIEW

K – HOUSE

Delivered : 2024.02

We renovated a room in an apartment complex.
What started as a request to “make the kitchen easier to use” gradually evolved into a total renovation.
The design of a house is a continuous process of thinking about the lives of the people who live in it.
When designing the new kitchen, we moved the walls of the room to create a more spacious layout. The change in space also naturally changes the line of flow. The dining room in this house has a large table that is also used for work, and is separated from the kitchen by storage. This storage becomes the center of the house, creating a circular flow and adding richness and accent to the living space. The small window in the storage room plays a major role in allowing people to feel the presence of others between the kitchen and dining room.
Rhythmic louvers, installed to eliminate the difference in the ceiling level, tie the dining room space together. Around the windows, shoji screens with the cleats on the reverse side allow for different views during the day and at night. In addition, bookshelves extending from the dining room to the living room connect each room, creating a sense of unity in the space. The furniture design is based on beech wood and off-white tones, and the light gray walls harmonize with the existing furniture, creating an elegant atmosphere.
The connection and relationship between each room, including the kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedroom, is what makes this house attractive and weaves life together.
The house blends existing elements, such as vintage chairs and light fixtures, with newly added design elements, creating a more comfortable and beautiful space that is in keeping with the lifestyle of its inhabitants.
