The “DESIGN MUSEUM JAPAN Exhibition 2025 – Connecting Treasures of Japanese Design” will be held at The National Art Center, Tokyo, showcasing design treasures discovered through field research conducted by leading creators active on the global stage.

One such discovery focuses on the vacuum flask (thermos), researched in Tenma, Osaka.
Osaka has been known as a major center of glass production since the Edo period. The origins trace back to Seibei Harimaya, a Nagasaki merchant who learned glassmaking techniques introduced by the Dutch. After mastering the craft, he moved to Osaka and began producing glass in front of the Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. This marked the beginning of Osaka’s glass industry.
